In January 2006, Nas announced in an interview with Scratch that he would be collaborating with DJ Premier on a joint albumā¦ In 2011, Nas revealed that the album was still in the worksā¦ On April 19, 2024, Nas and DJ Premier released a new single titled āDefine My Name,ā in honor of the 30th anniversary of Nasā debut album Illmatic (1994). On the track, they announced that their long-awaited collaborative album would be coming āsoon,ā with a press release from Mass Appeal Records stating it would be released by the end of 2024ā¦
On April 16, 2025, Mass Appeal Records announced a series titled Legend Has Itā¦, featuring seven albums set for release in 2025, from Nas & DJ Premier, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Mobb Deep, De La Soul, Big L, and Slick Rickā¦ On October 7, 2025, Nas revealed in a Rolling Stone interview that he and Premier had recorded older tracks dating back to when the project was first announced, which would be included on the albumā¦ On November 20, 2025, Premier revealed during a concert in Bristol with fellow producer The Alchemist that the album would be released on December 12ā¦ and now the wait is over!
