Fall - Real New Fall Lp
āThe Real New Fall LP (Formerly Country on the Click)ā is the 23rd studio album by The Fall. ⢠Originally released in the United Kingdom in 2003, Cherry Red Records is delighted to present this 20th anniversary re-issue. Originally recorded at Lisa Stansfieldās Gracieland Studios in between December 2002 and January 2003 with producer Grant Showbiz. The subtitle is explained by the fact that the tracks were originally scheduled for release in April 2003 under the title āCountry on the Clickā. Promotional copies were sent out and three of the new songs were previewed in the bandās 23rd Peel Session, but Mark. E Smith was unhappy with the mix and decided it needed further work. Alex Linhardt of Pitchfork called it āas valuable an album as anything The Fall ever released in the 1990sā and stated that āSmithās lyrics are at a near career-best of insolence and nonsense.ā AllMusicās David Jeffries wrote that the album āgives the faithful another reason to believeā. Helen Pidd, reviewing the album for The Guardian, viewed Smith as being āon magnificently mad formā. Uncut called it āGreat by Smithās standards. Practically genius by everybody elseās.ā Spin praised it as āan atavistic orgy of recycled riffs and lifelong obsessionsā. MOJO reviewed it as āas good as anything in this groupās monstrous catalogueā. Pop Matters called it ātheir best record in a decadeā. This Set as with the other Fall reissues has been compiled in conjunction with Fall expert Conway Patton and has notes by Fall guru Daryl Easlea and was mastered by long time engineer Andy Pearce with art by Becky Stewart.
